Limit Theory Scripting and Procedural generation

Just watched this video from the maker of Limit Theory.

In it he demonstrates procedural generation of ships from a scripting language and then shows how to make some simple icons using the same language.

This is a fascinating piece of technology, and really nicely executed IMO. Given the spiralling cost of AAA games, I think we're almost inevitably going to see more of this kind of generation.

That is awesome. Having any kind of scripting that can run and update while the game is playing is always nice. Is that a custom scripting language and editor, or is that a language. I looked at the script but didn't recognize it.

If it is a custom scripting language, I bet that's where all that extra kickstarter money went. biggrin.png

From reading the dev logs it appears to be a custom language called LTSL (which I'm guessing is Limit Theory Scripting Language)

The LT devlogs are a great read for game developers. He often gets into details, and it's pretty neat to follow along. He's much closer to the end than the beginning, but, it wouldn't be a terrible idea to go back through his logs and read some of the things he thinks about while making the game.

It's good stuff.
