Generating "random" maps

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to generate maps randomly? I would like to see some examples if you have any.
The spectral synthesis method by druid seemed interseting. That''s here on gamedev.net. Also a couple ideas on random maps were thrown around on a thread on the isometric programming forum.
