Hi All,

This post is just for information, plus i want to know what you guys think about it.

Note : Following is just my point of view which may differ from people to people, feel free to comment of make correction.

In making a software house there are many terminology used which are as following

  • studios (Microsoft Studios US)
Studios is the core name used in making any software house. The major responsibility it has of developing the game under a specific time. This include the programming and in-house production of animation.
  • entertainment (Blizzard Entertainment US)
Entertainment responsibility is marketing and distributing the product and its services. Many studios have an entertainment portion side by side.
ex. Disney Interactive Studios houses Interactive Entertainment.
  • corporate (Valve Corporate US)
Corporate is responsible for developing and publishing the game.
  • games (EA Games US)
Game is responsible for marketing, developing and publishing the video game.
  • video game company (Crytech GRE)
This is just another fancy name for Studios.

The main question is does these name matter when choosing a software house name. Do these small factors can impact the software house image in media.

Or

All this is just trying to be fancy, it depends on the vision of the software house core people that where they want to be in future and what they want to do in-house and out-house.

Thnx for your time reading :)

0. In making a software house ...
1. studios (Microsoft Studios US)
2. entertainment (Blizzard Entertainment US)
3. corporate (Valve Corporate US)
4. games (EA Games US)
5. video game company (Crytech GRE)
This is just another fancy name for Studios.

0. But you're not talking about just "software" - you're talking about game software (a specialized subset of software, and much more than just software - software is technology, but games are entertainment).
1. "Studios" with an S implies a sizeable organization with more than one studio.
2. "Entertainment" is appropriate.
3. "Corporate" implies a very sizeable organization, with multiple studios and a central headquarters.
4. "Games" is appropriate.
5. I don't get your point.

I think he's just asking if it matters what suffix you use for your company's name.

The truth is it does not really.

Some businesses even go by "House" or "Land" or nothing at all.
