I'd be really interested in this. I've been playing with game development since the TI-83 days and I've never really gotten anywhere beyond demos/prototypes/etc. Joined this forum to try and change that, it would be great to have a support group like this.

My strength is programming since that's what I'm classically trained, however I haven't done much in the last few years. I've been messing around with the Love2D engine recently. I also have experience with audio production and played guitar for several years. Also uh..I can make some pretty amusing voices so I'd be interested in voice acting/narrating a game as well.

I've been direct messaging those that have replied as interested, so if anyone else is looking to join, post here or direct message me!

This seems like an awesome idea, as a 3rd world aspiring game designer i don't have the chance to interact in real time with a lot of people in my same situation as me so yeah, that'd be awesome for me.

Count me in.

Would love to join! Am currently working on an android social/game app while learning java concurrently. I only have a basic grasp of c#, xcode and c though.

Also Interested. Have done a few small projects, though nothing that was ever worth turning (or trying to turn into) a full, finished game. Currently trying to change that, and I've recently started a new project that I intend to see through to the end. Its slowed a bit, as I've started studying to a get a jump start on some classes, but I will not give up on it. Programming is the area I favor, while any attempt at artwork I do won't exactly be easy on the eyes. I also do a lot of forum post-by-post RPs and like writing a lot. I know some C++, and have settled into C#. Most of what I have done has been in XNA/Monogame, though I played around with some basic OpenGL a year or so ago and have wanting to get back into it. Have Unity installed as well but haven't found the time to play around with it much yet.

I am both interested and curious about what this study group should start focusing on.

About myself, I have just started to primarily use Java for creating games for desktop and mobile platforms, in order to practice my skills in game design. I have used concurrency and hardware sensors to create a mobile game called Marble Run for Android, and a real-time strategy game called Pixavive Survival for desktop. I have also started to port Pokémon games to Java, under the tentitive title called "Pokémon Walking".

The skills that I have acquired since I started Java programming 6 months ago are mostly self-taught. I would like to try out having a group of people who were also self-taught to gather together and put their focus on a common theme when learning new subjects. I know that this study group is possible to achieve its goals. But since the primary focus of this study group is bit too broad, and the members here all have different backgrounds, maybe it would be best if we can narrow things down a bit.

What are your suggestions, and what particular focus would you like for this group to study? I could name a few, such as artificial intelligence, game design, concurrency, problem solving, or just "brainfuck" ourselves with estoric programming languages and contribute art in programming.

(Brainfuck is actually a programming language.)

Is this still going on?

DAMN. There was a thread like mine?

I'd like to know the same. Bridge the gap, as it were.

Is this still going on?

Yes. Here's the forum for the Game Dev group:

Unfortunately for me, I'm still under conscription.
