Anyone participating in the Global Game Jam this weekend, or have you tried it before? Any good tips for first-time participants this year?

I asked our Facebook followers over the weekend, and it sounds like a fair number are participating, and from sites all over the world!

I'm not participating, but I work across a hallway from the organizer for GGJ Melbourne. Looking forward to seeing the results from all around the world!

I participated in GGJ.

I did all the programming for my team, and I learned a lot about flashpunk, AS3, the OGMO editor and 2D platformers.

I participated as a programmer also. :)

That involves a team ....

I have no real life friends !!!

I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.

actually some places will just gather random ppl and the teams are made at the local based on ppl skills. you can go with a group too, but if you dont have any you will end up in some. Thats how they did it at UNISINOS on Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil.

Yeah in Melbourne, there was an IGDA-organized meet up beforehand, where everyone wore different colours depending on their skill-sets, and then organized themselves into teams for the Jam.

I participated as the youngest person in my whole jam (I'm a high school student). When it was time to present, our game ended up scaring everyone in the audience: http://globalgamejam.org/2014/games/project-funhouse
