Not That we Need More Drama, but Police, Stairs, etc.

Wait, are you saying you told an acquaintance about it, and had the police hear him? Don't do that. Producing a false witness is a really, really stupid idea.

He translated the story to the police. For clarity. While I was with him. Basically, he provided translation services and nothing more.

Next time, if you really want action against him, you have to make sure you take the proper course of action while the event is still unfolding. biggrin.png

(just to be clear, I'm kidding and don't approve of the lawsuit-happiness of the USA)

I'm with @hodgman. If someone tried that on me, I would throw the book at them. And if that failed, I would throw a bookcase at them.

I thought this thread would be about "falling down the stairs" in police custody (hint: most wives of policeman prefer to live in bungalows).

Yay for ignorant generalisations!

How many memories that brings! I saw that same episode on TV countless years ago (or I guess I could count the years if I checked Wikipedia, but meh).

A joke, yes, and a good one, but obviously no I won’t be doing that.
I think my current course of action is best, which is just to establish the police report. As a foreigner in Japan any legal battle will be tough but this is the way to start.

In general I agree, however as long as living in Japan is my main priority that will not be happening.

Since you mentioned... and since going to Mars is another one of your priorities, it's maybe worth a consideration that you ask a moderator to delete that thread. Better sooner than later.

You know, when the guys reading your application and searching the internet for your online life and such find any such thing as "some guy tried to push me down the stairs" doesn't precisely give you bonus points. It doesn't even matter why it happened. Some of the shit always sticks.

If someone you're "on good terms" with wants to kill you for no real reason (as in, pronounced a word badly, and apologized) then you're probably not someone one would want to send on such a mission. They wouldn't want to risk spending millions of euros and years of preparation only for having you being pushed out of an airlock. You know what I mean, it doesn't necessarily have to do anything with you, but that's how it goes... in the eyes of an auditor, you're a serious risk for the mission at best.

I do see your point and no offense taken.

Aside from waving at each other on the streets outside our places (with both of us wearing happy faces) we have had little contact in the last 6 or so months.
The guy who I had translate my story to the police was there the last time I saw him (just by coincidence) and if questioned he would agree that I waved and smiled at him and he did the same back.

What you want to say is that I got into an incident with an owner of a bar (where I didn’t even want to go in the first place because it is not my character—I usually just play piano there or get an early breakfast) would be evidence to the Mars-One team that I myself have a problem.

I can see some people drawing that conclusion.

But I have a witness to my interaction with this person being on completely friendly terms, and if they pressured me into a drink then there is no question that those terms were the same when I originally entered the bar (if we were on bad terms before I entered they would have just kicked me out then and there).
His police report makes no mention of me yelling, throwing things, blah blah blah. And his report mentions that I had 1 (one) drink, which I finished. Nothing in his report says that I spoke to anyone else there or made any fuss. No throwing things or pushing people, etc. Not talking to anyone else to cause other customers any trouble (although in the past other customers have been a big nuisance to me but I said nothing to anyone and just bared with it).
By the way in the very few times in which I have been to bars I have never done these things. I am simply using them as examples of things that might require force on his side.

His own police report confirms that I did not do anything physical (nor have I ever, because that is just not my nature). His report confirms that I did not push him back, I didn’t yell or resist, etc.

If Mars-One wants to know what kind of person I am, firstly we can all accept that misunderstandings happen and in my case it was just a language barrier. Completely unintentional on my behalf.
When I realized it happened I did my best to apologize and explain it was just a misunderstanding.
When he refused to listen I did not strike back, and instead received a push down stairs.

Don;t let them find out about the sleepwalking! Don't want to do an unscheduled space walk!

I am very disappointed in the replies regarding Mars-One and my sleepwalking. Both of which are off-topic and I will have this topic locked if it continues.

L.S. unless you are sure he pushed you down the stairs intentionaly, you should not issue anything. There are many law options to fire up here: issue law violation to procurator, having procurator initiate court (if you initiate it yourself- a lot of expense is risked). This way you would make subject false testify at court at least. Considering in options such as truth detector and such, the subject would get revealed.

But, if there is a criminal who intentionaly pushed you falling down the stairs, situation is a bit different. This would be a serious hurt atempt, wheather a murder atempt or serious health invalidation attempt. If you know what you are in, handle it your way, at your assumptions, for there is a lot of information and facts, considering what you have faced actualy.

Myself, if I was sure he wanted me to break down the stairs, I would get myself tear gas and knife. Making the pathologic person disapear to his responsibility, or , get myself out. Cannot say what has happened exactly though, from what has been (strangely) described.
