Challenge for the community: Figure-ground

Look like two faces? Look again, it's a vase!

Figure-ground is seeing one image and then seeing another in the background. The simplest way to get started doing this is by using black and white and focusing on both colors to create an image.

I am doing this in college right now. Here is what I made, note the image to the right looks the same on both sides because the college wanted it to look that way:

I would love to see a figure-ground game, or at least more of them to the point where I can say I've played one.

Looking at the images reminded me of "negative space" from 300 mechanics -- perhaps both of these things could be used together in an interesting way?

I remember playing a dos game which had a bunch of puzzle games in it and one had to do with figure/ground. Now what was that game called... Aha! Heaven and Earth: http://www.iangilman.com/software/heavenearth.php
