Hello,

My first post on this site so I hope I'm doing this right. My goal is to make a Collectible Card Game / Traiding Card Game similar to the 2D single player PC game Magic The Gathering from 1997, but also multiplayer. I'm starting from scratch and taking a look at the credit list for this game, my first questions is, is it even possible to do this on my own? I have searched google for game making software and from what I understand Gamemaking: Studio, Unity and Construct 2 seems to be popular. Which of these is more sutable for the type of game I want to make? I don't mind learning to code, so I would also like to know which language is the best one to learn for this type of game in combination with the software?

It is possible if you keep your expectations realistic.

They had 6 programmers an 15 artists from the credits. They also have a rich rule set and a lot of art. Don't expect that you can pull off the full rules of MTG or the quality of 15 artists from WotC. That is a very ambitious task.

A search for existing engines on Google immediately pulls up "Wagic" and "Card Game Engine". I'd look at both of those and search for others before deciding to start from scratch on my own card game engine.
