.mod was a type of music file back in the early 90's ....

It still is a type of music file now. ;)

Edit²: When I disable "predict network actions to improve page load performance" under advanced settings it's gone. Apparently chrome loads the first search result in the background which then starts playing automatically...

Wait, so chrome preloads "and" runs pages you may never click on? Am i the only one thinking ouch to privacy & security there?

I've always had "predict network actions to improve page load performance" enabled, but this easter egg still doesn't work for me.

It does sound pretty ridiculous that it would not only pre-load possible future pages, but also start executing the JS on them... Maybe the version of Chrome that some people are using here has a bug, which does this ridiculous action...
