hi guys,

anyone interested in how I got the results for this handpainted dagger?

also, check the shader done from scrath in UDK here:

and here's how the shader looks in game:

Let me know what you guys think, if enough people are interested I could make a video tutorial about how I did them all.

Btw, all the modeling is done in 3d max, texture work in ps and rendering in UDK.

enjoy!

the handle looks hand painted sorta but the blade looks quite flat. If you look at the texture you can see there is some shading on the top half of the blade edge but it is lost in the rendering in game. the whole top of the blade lacks dimension. not trying to sound negative but its just a opinion. im sure many think its fine. I do like the candles though those looked pretty cool.

No worries Komatsu, that's why I posted in the first place. To see what you guys think. When you work on your art It's always good to have another pair of eyes come with a critique. I always try not to fall in love with how the assets look and because of time constraints I always try to remain object and improve myself.

Well done, very impressed with your starting work.

Is there a backstory as to why the blade glows like that? If that is intended or not? Otherwise very impressed

Hey man,

Thanks for the comment!

In Kalandria there are many type of raw materials from which our blacksmith will forge different types of weapon blades. Well, in that blade making process the player could imbue the blade with special elements. (in the print screen it was imbued with fire just for testing purposes of my master material in UDK) One material to rool them all :))

Your game looks good too, let us see more screens and in game videos :D

Take care!
