Moving to Canada
I don’t know about Canada specifically but while it is true that you can’t work on a tourist visa, that is not an issue because generally there are 2 options in any country:Don't come here as a visitor, and try to apply for a job. I'm pretty sure that's illegal, and nobody will hire you without proper documents...
#1: Convert the tourist visa to a work visa as I did in Japan. This can be done without leaving the country.
#2: Use a visa-run to perform the conversion to a work visa. If a visa cannot be directly converted, the alternative is to simply leave the country and enter again on a new visa, but when you went to the United States of America to get that visa you had paperwork from the company willing to hire you that allowed them to give you a work permit instead of a tourist visa, so when you re-enter Canada you are on a work visa.
In either case, no company is hiring you on your tourist visa alone.
It’s illegal to work on a tourist visa, but not to apply for a job on a tourist visa.
At least in most countries. I believe I have heard of it being illegal to apply for jobs on a tourist visa in some countries so that should be fact-checked.
If that ends up being the case, I would recommend moving on to your next-favorite country for employment while only trying to apply from abroad as a means of handling the “just-in-case” scenario. I wouldn’t treat the case where you have to apply from abroad seriously, although it surely does work out sometimes.

Montreal is a bit of a hot spot depending on your native culture. It can be a very 'racist' place for some people but it's a very odd sort of prejudice. A Brazilian person would be fine. An American not so fine. Quebecer's tend to despise people from countries that have overbearing governments and lot's of big corporations. If you try to speak french when you first meet someone there, they will think it's cute and they will probably like you. If you insist on speaking english and you make no apologies for it they will very likely want you to leave. I've only encountered overt prejudice there twice, once it was because I tried to buy pizza with American money after just having come back from the states. It is, however, a hot spot for the game industry in Canada which is the only reason I mentioned it.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
