The old "tutorials & downloads" sticky topic is unfortunately broken, and a lot of the links were outdated before that. With your help we'd like to create a new and up-to-date version, but this time we'll be keeping the 2d and 3d stuff separate -- this topic is for 3d tutorials and resources only!

Please post links to anything you think should be included below -- this can and should be anything that you feel is helpful for learning to create 3d art, including stuff on modelling, texturing, rigging, and anything else that might fit. You can find the matching topic for 2d resources here.

Note that this is not a discussion topic, and any questions or comments may be deleted -- we're looking to build a list a valuable resources here! All relevant links will be edited into this first post, and once it's a reasonable size most of these original instructions will be edited out.

Hopefully I can find a few things later.

Stumbled across this a few months ago. While they are still porting their docs to the new format, there are lots of articles and code example for coding 3D graphics from scratch.

I created a detailed Blender modelling tutorial (and reference guide) for complete beginners

For people looking for a 3D app to start with this list is pretty comprehensive, with costs, links, etc... for each application.

Hi,

this topic is for 3d tutorials and resources only!

PIXEL 2 LIFE is an extremely worthy resource to include in your list:

Look at the 3D Graphics category, which includes tutorials in the threads, at the left column of the home page. Its seems that tutorials about all the most common and powerful 3D programs is there. There is a zillion tutorials in other graphics categories, too, such as 2D.

Personal life and your private thoughts always effect your career. Research is the intellectual backbone of game development and the first order. Version Control is crucial for full management of applications and software. The better the workflow pipeline, then the greater the potential output for a quality game. Completing projects is the last but finest order.
