A rather good reason(to not get windows 8) I found on the net:
So, windows 8?
lol, i heard windows blue/9 will also not contain a start menu. so if they don't make any needed changes on desktop then windows 9 will break the cycle of that image above.
Well first of all, 3.1, 95, and 98 were good. ME was horrible. 2000 and XP were good. Vista was horrible. 7 was good. So the pattern is not nearly as clear cut as some would have you believe. With that said, it's a shame that Win 8 is not as cohesive an OS as it should be. I had high hopes for it.
I've seen the pattern go with 95 good and 98 First Edition bad (98 Second Edition doing the good step). Also I recall seeing people mentioning it may be Microsoft going in a tick tock pattern where the tick (bad) is where they implement the big changes and the tock (good) is when they make those new features more usable.
Also that poll is close, I actually untied it o_O;

Windows 2000, Windows NT? Hrmpf.
It isn't as easy when you consider NT and 2000 actually come from a separate branch (they got unified back with XP, which I remember caused a lot of uproar back then since XP wasn't anywhere as good running DOS programs as 95 and 98 were).
If you are having a hard time with Windows 8, I can ask my colleague to help you.
