I know you have one.
I have been into them since I was a child and received a small ambulance that took 10 minutes to assemble (well, I was 5).
I got my first LEGO® Technic­™ (8818-1: Dune Buggy) set when I was 11 and it came with a subscription for a LEGO® magazine to which I promptly applied. I kept up to speed with all the new sets and collected a lot of them.
Back then, I had these (to name a few):
8448-1: Super Street Sensation (Enhanced by the motor from 3804-1: Robotics Invention System V2.0)
8431-1: Pneumatic Crane Truck (My favorite back then.)
8299-1: Search Sub
8858-1: Rebel Wrecker
8816-1: Off-Roader
8456-1: Fiber Optic Multi Set
8222-1: VTOL
And of course many more I can’t remember.


Then I moved overseas, leaving it all behind in America.
I never lost my interest but I could never really buy any because I had no stable place to put them; I was constantly moving to new apartments and even to new countries, and LEGO®’s are not a happy thing to pack.
So I waited about 10 years to restart my collection and I finally found a stable place to put them so that even if I change apartments/condos I don’t have to pack them up: My office desk.

Here is both my office desk and my current LEGO® collection (note that I do still have the sets from my childhood, although they are in America and I am in Japan).

Not shown, but is in the mail (will arrive any day soon) is the 8674-1: Ferrari F1 Racer 1:8.


Not sure yet where I will put it but I am eager to put it together. Funny how it is worth more than the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and iPad 4 sitting on my desk (not combined, individually).


Today a coworker asked me why I collect these sets. My answer was simple: I don’t wanna grow up; I’m a Toys‘R’Us kid.

I've never been much for the kits though, I mostly was free-hand building things with technics and space lego.
Lots of inherited lego from my older brother, and some kits bought but that mostly just got tipped into the big lego pile, so I don't remember which they were
Had some pneumatics too, but parts was often broken or missing.

Lots of electric powered cars, space ships, different weird mechanical machines, and once a mechanically programmable crane. (that last one was from instructions though, but not a kit)

No pictures to show unfortunately, I don't have any lego at my place now, but I've been thinking of getting some lego mindstorm, and maybe control it with a beagle board or something to play a bit with robotics

i used to be big into lego, i still have a huge bin full of an assortment of lego's, i've built kits of the space shuttle, an R2-D2, and some other things i don't remember, unfortunately they are all in that bin now.

The video to which you linked me made no sense to me (I may change my mind once I am a bit more sober, but I have done my “You are drunk so think like this instead of like that” checks (which keep me typing properly) to double-check this).
Since we are evaluating “worth” (a quoted word from my own post) I will make it simple by saying that the Ferrari F1 1:8 costs $899.99, and no iOS device costs that much.
I am not really sure what you mean by rubber-band-electronics (at least not now), but it is probably something I will not be able to understand until I am fully sober, so I will let it go for now.

Of course more replies are appreciated; just don’t ask me anything too advanced until later.

These are all in pieces now. I build all the sets, but I usually take them apart the next day or week, to make these:

The funny thing is: I have spent about 800 Euros so far and I think i almost have everything I need to build. Many people spend that much for a f'kin' TV. Or for cigarettes in a year.

Nice collection; I want the 8052-1: Container Truck and 8265-1: Front Loader (which is apparently going for $0.99 on e-Bay).
Also I saw your custom collection in a previous post and was going to comment on it but while I was typing it I heard gun shots outside and went to investigate. I like the blue set.

I don't own a LEGO anymore. I forgot what LEGO I used to have and play with. They were nothing fancy like Technic cars or a castle, but small vehicles as my parents were too poor to buy us anything bigger.

Oh boy. I wish I had all my LEGO sets. I think I still have most of the LEGOs, but I don't think anything is assembled anymore. Let me check...

*sigh* nope, they're all in pieces in a massive box (and spilling out after my nieces and nephews played with them recently). Well, I'm looking forward to what others have to share.
