I appear to be hopelessly out of date, Help Wanted is replaced by a specialized Classifieds which wants to charge me money for posting an ad.

Can anyone give personal experiences of the usefulness of this - do you get people replying for a start? And are there any stats on it or anything like that I can be pointed at?

I've never used the new system yet, but if you are posting for a non-commercial project, you don't have to pay anything. If it's a commercial project, and you're an indie, it only costs you $7. The reasoning (if I remember correctly, which I might not) for this small fee (aside from supporting the site) was to limit the number of "I'm making an MMORPG and when I am rich and famous, you can have a share of the profits" posts, forcing those into Hobbyist category.

I know at least some advertisers have had luck -- an ad is closed early due to the position being filled at least once per week, and some (not all) of the users I've had direct contact with have reported success -- but I'd love to hear a more general sampling of experiences.

One comment I'd make is that I would like to see the rate-card up-front, rather than go through the process a few steps and then see the costs. Unless this does exist and I missed it?
