I'm currently upgrading to more pro equipment and sample packs. I'm getting a lot of the EWQL stuff, but there seems to be a gap in what they offer when it comes to Woodwinds. I'm thinking of purchasing some of the Vienna ones as I need them. Does anyone else have any suggestions for good woodwind samples?

???! Certainly doesn't seem like there's a gap. Perhaps you don't like the sounds or need something specific but to call it a gap... seems odd to me. I have the platinum package and all of my woodwind needs have been covered. What I find EWQLSO lacks is the ensemble or section based effects. That's where Albion and ProjectSAM excel. Now, if you're looking at the Silver then I'd say just upgrade to at least Gold as it covers so much more.

Not a problem! Yeah the Hollywood Strings and Brass are newer packages that focus in on certain instruments only. Their overall orchestral library is pretty good. VSL is also very good but more expensive.

Thanks for letting me pick your guys' brains. This is a big step spending some serious dough! I appreicate the help. I might reeveluate buying Brass and Strings seperate and just get this. If you had to pick Symphonic and Brass or Strings, which would you go with?

Agreed, I own the EWQL SO Gold XP and the woodwinds sound awesome, the solo instruments are great too once you know your way around the articulations. (There's something really sexy about a contra bassoon)

Nate, what do you think of the close-mic'd instruments in Symphonic Orchestra Platinum? Worth the money? I often find myself wanting less or a different kind of reverb...
