Hey hey, I'm new here, please be gentle.
I'm a graphic designer by day and a gamer/illustrator by night. Recently, Just for fun I've been building a game on paper. I've been sketching and drafting a ton of level designs and character designs just to see if I can build my own little world in my own style.
I'm going to start building the final artwork in Adobe illustrator just because I really haven't been using illustrator on a professional level for 3 years and I need the practice....blah blah blah... straight to the question....
Can vectors be transferred over to a 2D game easily? I figure vectors can always be rasterized if need be but I really don't know how games call upon the artwork and the different frames of character animations. I'm wondering just in case I want to do something with this pile of artowrk at some point in the future.
Thanks.
vector artwork and 2D games...
It depends what game engine you are using. Flash and HTML support vectors natively, so they are pretty good options for making a 2D game, whether online or offline. But if you are aiming for a phone market you have to plan ahead for that.
I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
