well this is the lounge so I thought what better place? anybody have any experience with Blue shield of california? They any good...are there any good or better companies you've come across cigna kaiser etc?
First, Blue Shield offers about fifty different plans, plus customization and additional options like vision and dental add-ons. You can't just compare the company broadly against the other companies broadly, there are way too many variables for that. Even if you start comparing specific plans, comparison of one company's high-end plans against another's low-end plans is just not reasonable. One person may have great experiences (with a high-end plan) another may have horrible experiences (with a low-end plan), but the variability isn't due to the company.

Second, "good" is subjective. Low premiums (good) are contrary to better coverage (also good). Some plans are good for individuals, other plans are good for large families, some plans are good for high-risk individuals or people with special needs, other are better suited for low-risk individuals. I never travel and don't need out-of-network coverage, you may travel frequently and need support for medical conditions on the road. What is good for me may be a horrible option for you.

Usually the better you get on one end (benefits, out-of-network coverage, travel coverage, prescription coverage, vision coverage, dental coverage, lower deductibles, lower co-pays, higher maximums, dependent children, etc.) the worse you get on the other end (higher cost).
