Project Offset Revival?
anybody think that project offset should be un cancelled? should we as a gamedev community propose something. I had high hopes for this game...

Probably not. Im no expert on the subject but the last I heard they were acquired by intel and just recently they were dumped for whatever reason. Then they started some new team called Fractive LLC. I dont know if that means intel still owns the copyright to PO, but if they do then no theres no chance of that project being risen from the dead. But if the offset team still owns it they probably want to ditch the old concepts and start fresh. I do agree with you though because I was a fan of that too.
man....................that game brought tears to my eyes
sniff.... but wait, why ditch the old concepts? the game was doing just epicly fine, surely they wont do that, other wise it wont be no project offset

well they were bought out by intel, so if theyre not continuing work on PO then odds are they don't own the rights to it anymore

Man i am seriously willing to put my time to convince or even beg intel to give the source code and assets to fractiv, Project Offset had such damn potential!!!! Let us at gamedev do something!

if you think about it project offset was a step ahead when it was first introduced but now that technology is common with next gen games. The motion blur, the specular bloom, cone step mapping (thats what it looked like to me). It was an innovative idea but time caught up. They spent too long fiddling around with the graphics, physics and the render engine but didnt invest enough time into developing the game. Probably why they were dismantled because after a while intel just didnt see the potential in it anymore.

Our previous company, Offset Software, was purchased by Intel in 2008. Our labor of love was Project Offset and the game engine that went with it. As many of our fans already know, Project Offset was cancelled. The graphics hardware it was being designed for did not ship and our game was a casualty of this.
The IP and Engine are property of Intel so its future is out of our hands. We have tried working with Intel to obtain the rights and there are some good people there who have made some effort to help us, but without success.
We would like to thank all those who supported us and the project. We learned some good lessons along the way and met some incredibly talented people who we are fortunate enough to call our friends.
