Eugenics is a necessity.

So, in other words we should clearly prevent you from having any offspring, because you obviously come from a 'defective' family?

From GED tests, college placement test, and college GPA I appear to be above average despite my childhood. However, I can't say the same for my two sisters. My point is that my parents never should have been allowed to have children to abuse.

Or,... Try to keep up with me now as I make this radical shift in thinking... Maybe we could work on our social support systems, so that kids can be removed from such family environments and given the care and support they deserve?

Someone did indeed call social workers to remove my sisters and I from the custody of my parents but there was no clear signs of abuse. I'm afraid at the moment a child must undergo severe abuse to the point of being life threatening in order for action to be taken.

As for giving "All individuals a say in their future", do you mean a pure democracy? Where everyone gets to vote on issues, and we go with majority rule? Great idea. But only picture this: me and my friend vote that supporting Eugenics should carry the death penalty. And guess what,... You're the only other guy in the room. "Democracy" is great! As long as you're not the minority.

You can say what ever you want but it is a far better system then we have in place at the moment.

Eugenics is the fix offered by spoiled well off folks who have never had it really hard in life as a fix for the world's ills. It's there way of blaming the poor and downtrodden for being poor and downtrodden so that they don't have to look in the mirror and see the greedy faces of the real scourges of the planet.

Your stereotype is obviously false. I have never been "well off."

Wait, you want to put it all in the hands of the Internet? The same society that has 4chan, reddit, and so many other concentrated cesspools of idiocy? This crap just keeps getting better and better.

Those same people who are on 4chan, reddit, and so many other concentrated cesspools of idiocy are all allowed to vote in our current democracy. So by allowing more accessibly to vote through the internet it would somehow make the systems break?

Before I ended that post I was about to right a blurb saying "let's not turn this into a contest of how un-well off we are."

I submit, you will never find a poor person from any country advancing the notion of eugenics. And by poor I mean impoverished living every day hand to mouth. By that standard, you are indeed well off I suspect because you've got all kinds of time on a Sunday morning to sit at your PC and engage in discussions such as these. The desperate amongst us do not.
Foruntately, the only way eugenics will ever occur is through a crime against humanity.

No real democratic society would ever vote for such a thing... and if they did, they are so foolish and stupid they deserve whatever fate befalls them.

The fundamental problem with eugenics is, it doesn't tackle the source of the problem. The problem isn't average people or poor people. The problem is classism and racism. No doubt the first groups to be targeted would be the poor and the minorities. But they wouldnt not be the last. Imagine the tyranny.
ack. I don't know how to edit my post anymore on this new gamedev.net forum.

I meant to say, the real problem is that classism and racism have lead us to the state of the world we're in. It's natural that people who've been fooled into thinking the problem is the poor and the minorities (created by classist and racist rhetoric and practice) would actually believe that getting rid of those people is some type of solution. They bought into the message, they made everything worse in the process, and now they double down on all that error by going with the eugenics solution rather than reverse course and fix all the actual sources of problems.

Before this I was living with a friend walking miles to work every night and eventually I was living in a homeless shelter for 6 months. Seriously you have no idea who you are talking to. I'm telling you now your stereotype is flat out wrong.

Hmm...

So allegedly handicapped parents can have healthy and perhaps even above average offspring.

Interesting twist.
Indeed.

And he had the luxury of being able to attend college.

So the picture you're painting is that you pulled yourself up by your own bootstrap due to your better than average intelligence and because you could do it they are of inferior intelligence and should be cleansed?

I also had two sisters. One is 25 and joined a cult in Texas. The other is 24 and still lives at home with my parents. Neither of them graduated high school.
