Bastion Soundtrack
I had made a note that after I finished reading the best of 2011 articles on the game-sites I use I was going to give the bastion soundtrack a listen, it had got so much positive attention that i was intrigued, anyways I bought it last night, and just think it is a such a fantastic piece of work I haven't even got round to playing bastion but that soundtrack stands up on its own. The production is superb and I love the folk setting with trip-hop background feel. One of the truly great soundtracks of last year.
Yes, a unique audio experience. Thumbs up to the team who made Bastion.

I've been raving about this game to everyone in earshot for the last few months. Darren Korb did an absolutely killer job on the soundtrack, as well as being responsible for directing the narration (which, considering the amount of it, is no small feat). Can't wait to see what supergiant does next!
For me the narration is what really made the game. Don't get me wrong, the music is great too (as is the sound design) but the narration is what stayed with me long after I finished the game.

The Bastion soundtrack is very creative and innovative. It really showed me how much you can do with music. How you can make it into what you want it to be. I mean acoustic trip-hop? I don't think there was such a thing before Bastion.
I was thinking about this the other day actually. I'm about halfway through the game (NO SPOILERS PLEASE!) and what's struck me is how they've managed to mash together various different styles of music to create an entirely new aesthetic. Some instruments are evocative of particular places, and are generally cliche now (e.g. mouth harps to denote cowboy/western, gongs to represent China) but in Bastion they've been merged to produce a solid new style. Really makes you think the world could really exist.
