Does anyone know of any free tree/foliage generators out there? I'm not looking for anything too complex. I need something that can generate nice-looking low-poly foliage that can be used on mobile platforms. My modeler uses 3DS Max 2011.

The previous version of Blender (has this ported to the present version, I could not find it anywhere?) had some totally awesome tree generation abilities. Basically you'd draw some curves, give them thickness, twist, rotation and whatever, and the program would generate UV-textured polygon-treestumps and branches that look awesome and have no nasty gaps, overlaps, or other artefacts. Plus, you give it some kind of hull geometry, and it fills in twigs like crazy.

Or just make them by hand it takes about 10 minutes for each tree:
