I don''t plan on trying to impliment this, but I thought it was a comaparitvly unique idea. Imagine a game where the primary character is doing everything he can to not be controled by the player. Where reverse psycology is needed to get him to do what you want. That is unless he thinks you''re using reverse psycology in which case he follows your commads. What might a game like this look like? Is it possible? Would it be fun or just frusterating?
Hmm, could get frustrating.

How about you have your main character being AI, and your objective is to kill him?

Or your character is again AI, and suicidal, and your job is to keep him alive?

It wouldnt be hard to do, I dont think. Create a boolean variable, and it will deicde whether everything is reverse or not(true, reverse, flase is normal)

I don''t know if people would enjoy playning a game like Metal Gear Solid with a time when everything is backwards.. but if it is a game where there is a reason to be backwards, then you should try it.

Nice! I can actually envision an entire game built around this that would work. Once you appropriately cast the player, I can see things falling in line.

Imagine Your body has been hijacked by a demon. You're still attached (silver cord), but you can now only influence things as a quasi-ghost.

You're not exactly sure what the demon's goal is, except to joyride in your flesh and wreak havoc, and eventually get rid of you so it can be free in the world.

You're trying to get it to an alter, on the other side of the country. You've got to drop things, steal from other characters, maybe even possess NPCs, all to try to misdirect the demon. You want to stop him from harming people, and stop him from getting to the fallen alter he's heading to (to cut the cord).

A lot of gameplay would be spent watching him operate, maybe as in Creatures or Black & White or the Sims. Then, you'd fashion misdirecting elements and see how he reacts. Like in B&W, you'd refine & refine until you got the behavior & goal you wanted.

AI for this would have to be really good. But it'd be a nice break from "kill everything" games.

EDIT: And you'd have to do all of this without getting him killed, even when he does bad things, because he's you!!!

This sounds like a wonderfull principle to base a game on!

But it reminds me of something... The Lemmings! Often, I got the impression that these critters where so incredibly smart, they could see through my plans and totally foil them but diving of a cliff!!!!!!!!!!!!1 )
Dude, you realize that this game is called "Parenting a Teenager"?
