If I were to make a game and use one word from another games title, would they be able to sue me?
I think there is an issue like this already floating around with Bathesda.
How can anyone copyright a single word though?
For instance I want to name my game Arche ______ but there's already another game named ArcheAge.

If I [do anything to anyone], would they be able to sue me?Yes. Whether or not they'll win is a different question that can't be answered here.
When someone "copyrights" a word, it's usually a trademark:

Is you game similar to ArcheAge? Would the average consumer be reasonably confused as to whether ArcheButabee was associated with ArcheAge?

Yes, it's the same type of game. I don't mind changing it though, I just needed a domain to host a site for development and came up with that. I'll just use the domain for development and let it expire and register my new name when the time comes.
I came up with something unique and better.
