First Person Strategy Shooter?

2+ players are put into a field. They take the role of a powerful unit, and are given a base that spawns their armies. They have abilities like the Commander from Battlefield, and can designate priority targets, set up squads, etc, and can command nearby units from the FPS view. They get points for kills, and can upgrade their base to spawn more powerful units, and equip them with different weapons.
I know this may not help much, but if you are going to do something, do something you like.

What’s your favorite genre and game-play style? Just do that. You work with something you are familiar with and can easily balance and add ideas to.

I don’t see why it should be hard to be original. How long have you been playing games? Are you seriously telling me that you don’t have any ideas that you would like to see in games? If they haven’t been made yet, then that’s your chance to make it yourself.

Being original isn’t hard. The only reason you don’t see it much in all those games made because the creator aren’t trying to be original (even if they think they are). They’re just tweaking their favorite games/genre.

Example from my side: Realistic physics in FPS. I’ve played so many FPS till date that I have reached a level that the only thing that can even amuse me anymore is taking physics to the next level.

Take the grenade for example. The damage radius is exactly the same in any game either you throw it in an open area or in a closed hallway or room. Throwing a grenade in real life (not that I would know :P) in a narrow space means a definite kill to anyone in it, and a permanent deaf ear for anyone taking cover.

I know you have complaints about games :P if you are making your own then take it as a chance to add what you like to see.

Cheers :)
