How do I make a plane that is closely packed with vertices in max?

I'd like to make a plane that is packed with vertices that are very close to each other, like a unit as small as a pixel (relative to the scene involved) in max 2011
How do I make it happen?

Create a plane with a width to height ratio equal to that of your desired render output. Position a camera so that the plane fits the view exactly. Increase the width and height segments of the plane to match the pixel values of your render output.
