Underground city / mining themed game
How about a game where the player digs down vertically, and the entire world is underground? It could be dynamic or static, however the buildings would all be in large caverns (probably) hallowed out by people with tools, and different parts would have different wall materials, such as crystals, coal, diamond, dirt, and all other minerals in patterns and static, with similar things being together and heavier/denser ones deeper on average. In these caverns would be stairs, elevators, lights, farms, manufacturing facilities, and more, and the interior could be any size, and I should note the theoretical maximum internal "surface" area of mining the inside of the earth is much, much larger than the area on the surface of the earth + breathable lower air.

As I've seen people respond to you before... "how about it?"
You've got the start of a good concept there, but so far you've just described a basic setting for your game -- how would it actually play? Like many of your game design topics I think you could come up with a great game idea if you stick with this and expand upon it.
How does the game play, and what is the player trying to achieve?
What is the goal of the player? Some potential ideas might be:
What sort of interface does the player have? Is the game third-person like Sim City, a third person RPG style game, a first person exploration or shooter?
Is there already stuff in the caverns, or does the player (and potentially enemies) put stuff in? Is the player digging out all the caverns, or just tunnelling between existing ones?
Hope that helps!

What is the goal of the player? Some potential ideas might be:
- Exploration. The player is motivated by the interesting things they can find, and the main focus is on uncovering new and interesting things.
- Construction. The player is trying to build things, similar to The Sims, Dungeon Keeper, Sim City, etc.
- Warfare. The player is trying to conquer the caverns, or to remove enemies from them.
- Something else???

How about a game set on the inside of clouds? They could have literal silver linings, but made of gold, and of course be invisible from the outside so the world just thinks that they're regular clouds even though they're really super cloud cities in the sky with diamonds. New cloud cities could be made by collecting gold but to do so you'd either have to pull apart another cloud's lining or venture down to where the "ground dwellers" live in order to trade or even venture into their mountain caves to dig up your own gold using the tools that you found in that cavern earlier. I'd even say that the cavern is like a metaphor for the cloud, as when you take the gold from it to build your silver lining it's a reinvention of the same principles in different forms, which would make for a large world like last Saturday did. How about it?
. 22 Racing Series .
You'd get there by picturing yourself on a boat on a river. In order to see in the inner silver lining, you'd have to push your way through the cellophane flowers and plasticine porters to talk to the girl with the kaleidescope eyes.
even though they're really super cloud cities in the sky with diamonds
An idea must not necessarily be a fully self contained product within itself. It sounds as though you want to do those 4 things to my idea, but your society prevents you from using ideas that exist. Feel free to use mine, but please do not complain if I write an idea here and it isn't long enough for you, or it is, or all you can do is command me? If you would rather go back to rewriting lies, I will perhaps go elsewhere since apparently the people who are willing to write here don't like me....although I suspect those willing to implement what I say are not those who are willing to write about it here.
Also if you have nothing relevant or insightful to say that is connected to something or some idea that I have written, please do not clutter my threads with your worthless drivel. Feel free to expand upon, discuss, question, or debate anything I have said or that comes up that is relevant and connected to ensure maximum information.

Watch out, since it includes mining a little bit, people will accuse you of ripping off minecraft ;p seems to happen a lot lately, lol.
Anyway, im not too sure what the focus of the game would be. The 4 things jbadams listed seem to make the most sense, but like he said, its only a story at this point. Also, i havent been on this forum very long, so i may have missed something... but how did that post veer into people not liking you? O_o and why do you assume he wants to use your idea? He was only trying to help you develop yours...

Excuse me?
I haven't commanded you to do anything, and you're free to do whatever you like -- I was merely offering feedback on what I felt might help you to get better responses, as most of your recent topics have either got few or no responses, or have got responses that are poking fun at you.
This is a discussion forum, and the expected thing is that if you post an idea you want input. If you don't want my input that's fine, but perhaps you should in that case post to a blog (GDNet Developer Journals are free for all users if you don't have one) rather than a discussion forum.
But hey, feel free to ignore me if that's what you like. Don't take offence when I haven't said anything to offend though, and in future perhaps if you don't like my input you could simply ignore the post rather than replying and calling it "worthless drivel", especially considering that out of the four users who have responded to this topic two of them are poking fun at you, my post is on topic, and the other apparently agrees with me.

[size=2]How is that not what I already did?[color=#1C2837][size=2]If I might look back at my first response in this topic, I would suggest it falls firmly in to the category of questioning your idea, with some suggestions for expanding upon it thrown in.
