Between March and September of 2012, the Smithsonian will open an exhibit dedicated to games AS art--not just art in games. They're taking votes right now. You can pick up to 80 games across five generations, from a pool of 240. All is needed is an email address to register. To vote, go here.
I haven't picked all my 80 yet. A lot of great candidates, I will say. It's a shame they had to put the only Megaman game under the same category as SMB3.
One thing I found interesting is that this exhibit will be part of the American Art Meseum, which is somewhat amusing since about half of the candidates are from outside the U.S. Not complainin', just sayin'.

Aw, you can't nominate games? I didn't find one of the 10 most artistic games I could think of among their choices.
I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
