I've been working as a freelance pixel artist for a while now. Recently though I've got a bit bored of doing work for other people, creating pixel art for amature gamers attempting to make MMORPGs that you know will never see the light of day. So I decided to design my own game, create the art work and post on a few sites looking for a programmer to do the rest.
Well things took off a lot faster than I was expecting and I got a lot of offers, one of the more professional looking people to take an interest are a company called DCKAP (http://www.dckap.com/index.htm).
I just wondered if anyone knew much about them or had any dealings with them in the past? Obviously I'm a bit cautious and want to find out as much about them as I can, im kind of new to this who thing, any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Question about mobile app development
Based on Google, it looks like they are a contractor for development services. The basic operation is that you specify a contract, you pay them, they write the code, you pay them, they write more code, etc, until the project is complete. There are hundreds of shops that do the same.
Assuming that is what you want, you'll want to get bids from multiple companies and review their other work. It is not much different than hiring contractors for any other work. Every contractor has strengths and weaknesses, they may be a bad fit or a great fit for you. Relationships are a highly individual thing.

I'd be looking (if you haven't already) at the freelancer sites like elance.com, etc. which allow you to see the portfolios of all those that respond to your RFT. All their previous work is listed along with reviews and ratings from their current and previous clients.
I've worked a lot in there before and it helps immensely to see this information before you enter into a contract with someone. That's not to say that you don't get duds as I've already had to cancel one contract, but all others have worked out really well.
eLance isn't the only one, there are other large players, I only mention them because I've used it the last few times and I like it.
