I hope this is not inappropriate, so here it is...

As there are more and more surround sound in video games world, I'm glad to announce the recent launch of an online sound library dedicated to surround ambiences, exclusively.

Most of them have been made in ambisonic, but more recently in double-M/S, IRT, and custom made 5.0 arrays (no restriction here as long as the recording combo is a "true" surround system).

Surround Library - Your Surround Sound Effects Source - Home page

I'd be glad to hear from specialists like you what you think concerning the interface, prices, ergonomy, and the such.

As you'll see on the website, each sound is sourced, and has all technical informations attached (i should say embedded also). The human aspect of sound is very important for us.

For your information, we're only using opensource softwares for the website (Magento, WP-Audioplayer, linux-based server, etc.).

Let me know what you think of all that, even if negative.

Bye.
Interesting idea!

Thanks!

I'm sound recordist in TV industry and i don't know the video games world very well...

Did you use B-format audio (ambisonic) in your games? It's a very powerfull audio format!

Somebody said me that there is an ambisonic audio engine for video games : 3D RAPTOR. Do you know it?
Dirt and Dirt2 games are provided.

Bye

It depends on the console and the project. Some audio engines use this, like OpenAL or the Dirt games you reference while others use other methods.

Thanks,

Nate
