I got this idea for a book.
You see, there is a lot of travel book out there, with some of them not a serious type, but more of a travel log type (travelog). for example someone who travel for the first time to Africa, let say, would document their travel very well (picture, hotel stay, cost, etc). then they decided to write a book based on their journey. so it will NOT be a an "ultimate" book about travelling to Africa, but more of life, Africa, and everything in general. for example they might lost their luggage (and how they try to live until their luggage returned to them). how they being scammed by a taxi driver, etc, etc.
i plan to do the same about game programming (with game programming being an example, but it was other part of IT). how being a newbie on it, how to look for info (how some people ask question without even bother goggling). mistakes I do along the way and how to fix them. what i learn in the end.
the end result might be a simple breakout style game - but it was not about the end result, it was about the journey. i mean, how many book on game programming actually focus on file management, versioning, back-up (har har har - but just like that lost luggage, i can tell my horror story and what i learn from it (mozy or microsoft own free 25 gig space).
i can talk about how it effect life, how you improve your life based on your experience in this "game programming". logical thinking, problem solving, etc.
Anyway, I know my best best is to talk to a book publisher (which I already plan to go this Monday, but for my other book proposal). But I plan to throw this one in as well.
But do you guys think?
idea for an adventure book
Sounds intriguing. Would this book only be about travel to foreign places or game programming or both to mix the two as a whole?

The amateur writer was give the chance to travel tow some of the most exotic places in the world by his first publisher. The publisher tells this new writer "If you want to become a writer," he says. "You have to write what you know." He adds. Your short story was decent. Not perfect but decent. Any one could of written this piece of writing. You have potential, but you can do better. In a years time you should have all the details from your journey to tell for everyone what you have experienced. Feel the excitement, meet new people. Just don't get into trouble, see." The publisher leans back into his chair and waits for the writer's answer.
At this same time of being a writer his or her other experiences can give this person new ideas or help him or her through the game design process from meeting new people, talking to Indy designers, talking to major game corporations etc. The possibilities are endless. It all depends on where you are going and how long and far your willing to travel to get to that goal.
Hope this helps you in some small way. Good luck on your book interview as well.
