As controlled demolitions get more advanced, they become safer, cheaper, and take
less time to organise. But, this is kind of anticlimactic. When people say goodbye to a structure their lives have revolved around, they want something cathartic. A little pop followed by the building being destroyed by its own weight is not enough. Like the only decent episode of "Little house on the prairie", which was compulsary family TV time when I was a kid, where they all blow up their houses with dynamite. For weeks afterwards, my brother and I blew up little lego houses.
BORING
I wish that, just once, somebody would blow up something like a tower or a chimney using thousands of tons of explosives in an uncontrolled manner so that the whole thing was blown to trillions of atomised pieces, in a spectacular explosion which could be seen and heard for hundreds of miles around.
I WANT TO SEE SOME 'SPLOSIONS
anticlimactic

IBTNE
This may be really stupid... but what is IBTNE? neither google or bing are very forthcoming with results.

Ahhh, this reminds me of the good ol' days....
">Booooom
Hilarious, after the explosion and hearing the cries of "yay" turn into cries of "ewwwww" I loled for about 40 seconds, if I ever have to deal with a 30 tonne whale carcass I'll know what to do. Its hilarious because nobody got hurt, they just got rotting whale body all over themselves and destroyed somebodies car.
Half a tonne of dynamite was not enough; I would use a whole tonne instead. I wonder if it would be possible to drag the whale body out to sea (it would obviously float, so the main difficulty would be initially getting it off of the sand) and THEN blow it to pieces?

I'm wondering the same thing... IBTL usually means, In Before The Lock, so, maybe he typoed a 'E' instead of an 'R' and meant to say something like... IBTNR = "In before the nazi reference"? Random guess. [smile]

">Fred Dibnah used the old fashioned technique which, as he #t=5m43s">explains, is more respectful (and spectacular).
