Just a quick question on exporting a CAT model to .x format...
is it possible? I'm having issues with using panda exporter in 3dsm to create a .x format on it. Direct x viewer is unable to load it after the export is complete.
3ds max CAT to .x format?
I'm actually not the artist doing the export.
The issue seems to be that it exports in 2009 and can be opened in the d3d model viewer but the mesh itself doe not animate with the bones.
When attempting to export from max 2010 it will not even open with the model viewer.

Your artist should at least be using the following export settings: mesh definition, include animation, bones and sub frame hierarchy.
[Edit] Your artist could also try to rig the mesh with non-CAT objects and animate those objects using the CAT objects. This would be a work around and increase the workload though.

Or try an alternative exporter. The kwXPort plugin does a very good job for us. Although I have to add: we don't use the D3DX loading functions for .x-Files - they don't load some files which are fine otherwise.

Gonna try that "Indie" stuff I keep hearing about. Let's start with Splatter.
