So, I guess most of us by now have heard that Futurama is back for a new season(6th) in Comedy Central Channel. I was wondering what everyone thinks about the quality of the new episodes. I've only watched the first 2 so far, and I was pleasantly surprised as the humour is pretty much on par with the good moments of the series, unlike the 4 DVD movies which were kind of weak(in my opinion). So if anyone has watched any episodes, or episodes beyond 1&2, I'd like to hear how it continues with respect to quality. Thanks :)
I've been enjoying them.

I have to say last nights was a hair disappointing, because it the answer to the problem pretty much ended up being the same solution to the problem from the previous episode - Go forward instead of backwards.

I enjoyed them. Also I tend to cry easily so yeah *tear* at some parts of the show.
Wider variance than the original 5 seasons, IMO, but generally pretty good. The first episode was a little strained and I thought 6x02 just plain sucked. After that it settles back into the groove, and 6x07 was really good.

So far, I like them, I doubt I would notice too much of a difference if I didn't knew its been what? 8-10 years since the previous season?

However the question that still bugs me is why can't they install a backup unit into Bender?

The same way that he is shown both being built as a baby and being built as a full grown "adult" in separate episodes.

Not to mention the fact, Bender is usually the first to try and run away when everyone is about to die ... or that fact that his whole body has been regrown in the first episode of the season. So the answer is "because it's convenient to the plot" :)

Well, I asked my brother about how come in the very first episode (Season 1) he was right behind Fry on the line for the suicide booth, and he said that he uses those booths for sex on other episodes, and being the first to run is explained as him being a "Drama Queen" which to me is a cop-out.

Of course I understand the obvious answer "because it's convenient to the plot", I gave up on trying to make sense of fiction since Matrix Revolutions, but these kinds of plot holes are something that became prevalent in the Simpsons and ended up ruining the series for me, maybe I am the odd viewer, but I like consistency in the stories, when a story becomes swiss cheese, I feel my intelligence being insulted and stop watching [smile].
I wouldn't call these "plot holes" because it's obvious the makers are aware of them and because such inconsistencies are so frequent in futurama that i rather consider them to be running gags. it's like when the professor explains what just happened and then proceeds to say "yeah yeah what I just said made perfect sense".

I've been enjoying the new episodes so far, apart from last night's episode which I found just plain awful. then again, last week's episode was pure genius. I'm just happy the series is back so I have some tv to look forward to now that the simpsons, family guy, south park etc. have lost their charm.

I think that's different as some of those are made self evident, some others are not, and do leave you with a taste of "do these guys even know what their cannon is?", I think the answer is, no, they don't, "the makers" you mention are often as many as a dozen or so writers at a given time, and they come and go, by Occam's razor I think the most plausible explanation is that either they don't care (and so, why should I care to watch?), or as new writers come, they fail to research whether their plots make sense in virtue of the bigger plot so far.

If you don't enjoy it, don't watch it. Some people just don't like episodic shows, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Personally, I have no problem suspending disbelief and enjoying each episode for what it is
