Call of duty: Black ops..it's just a concept

Hey man,

I think you meant to say "my first attempt at video game style music placed on top of images from ..." etc.

Now my question for you is this: What does the music have to do with the game imagery and video footage it's paired with?

I know it's nothing really..just me playing music to a trailer

i know your supposed to have cues where the tempo changes/mood changes and scenes and stuff

But I DID build suspense somewhere around :37 where you hear the melody keeps ascending

Hey,

Hope you don't mind some more feedback/constructive criticism:

Even without tempo/mood changes I think you could do a better job of tying the music and video together. One of the flaws to this track is how repetitive things are. From the start of your video I can hear all of the instruments you use for basically the entire clip. From 1:04 onward you only use long strings. This makes the trailer's music feel unfinished or lacking any real direction.

What I'd consider doing is watching several action trailers and seeing how they keep the music's momentum up. They add new instruments, change the patterns up, have tension and resolutions built it.

Here are some good examples to listen to:

The Dark Knight:

At the start it's only low drums. It takes a while for the brass/string stabs to come in. It establishes an atmosphere first then builds on it.

Tron:

Follows much the same formula. Strings with held notes at the start. Low strings start an ostinato (repeating pattern). There's some build up and pauses but the real action doesn't start until around 1:20.

My point is the main problem with your music right now is pacing. You basically show all of your cards at once and then keep showing the same cards without any real changes. This causes the music to have less impact. I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Nate
