Checking in on Saturn - pictures by Cassini
Awesome pictures of Saturn, it's moons, and rings, returned recently by the Cassini probe.

Inspiring stuff. I particularly like 28, where Prometheus causes 'streamer-channels' in the rings.
The quality and detail in the pictures totally blows me away still.
24 made me go 'woah!' as I was scrolling down due to the huge crater in the top of the image.
All in all stunning, stunning stuff...

28. Definitely my favorite!
Why are we stopping the space program again?

3 and 6 are my favorite. That crater on Mimas is huge. And I like how the shadow from the rings cuts the whole planet in half, I wonder how wide it is on the surface.

They aren't. All that's shutting down is Shuttle and possibly Constellation, if Obama and the new NASA admins have their way. I don't really follow unmanned spaceflight that much, but nothing has been cancelled (recently). The James Webb space telescope ("successor" to Hubble) and the RTG-powered Mars Science Laboratory (I think they named it "Curiosity") are still going to fly.
simply osom. I agree the gravity disturbances on the ring (in 28) look amazing. Also that Saturn looks like an angry pac-man on 22. lol
[size="2"]I like the Walrus best.
