Favorite comedians?
Ross Noble does a fantastic live show, and interviews well. Recorded copies of his shows or short (5-10 minutes) of stand up at festivals aren't as good.
Also additional votes for Bill Bailey and Mitch Hedberg.
Nina Conti is good if you like ventriloquists, but doesn't vary her show much and therefore gets old quickly.

Here's a few favorites that no one had mentioned yet: Sam Kinison, Gallagher, Cheech and Chong, Andrew Dice Clay, Eddie Murphy, and Bob Saget (yes, the Full House guy)
Dane Cook is a joke (no pun intended). I thought only frat boys liked him.

What? No Dave Chappelle? No George Carlin? No Richard Pryor? No Robin Williams? No Bill Hicks?
Back when I was in college I went into downtown San Diego with a few buddies to check out another buddy's jazz band and Robin Williams staged an impromptu performance in the bar next door. A huge crowd gathered outside to listen, us included. He was great. That was around 1990.

I forgot Rodney Dangerfield.
IMHO George Carlin, Bill Hicks and Richard Pryor are 3 of the funniest people ever to walk the earth. Dave Chapelle and Robin Williams are good but they're not in that league.
But that Comedy Central list is terrible. Roseanne Barr above Bill Hicks? Martin Lawrence above Dave Chappelle? and how the hell did Gallagher make the list? Not to mention the utterly heinous relegation of Billy Connolly to 73rd.
In fact, it's a very north american centric list.
Personal favourites are:
Dylan Moran
Tommy Tiernan (insane Irish comedian, check him out)
Bill Bailey (going to see him next month, yay! [grin])
Bill Hicks
Billy Connolly (hmm lots of Bills)
George Carlin
Dara O'Briain
Jon Stewart

And here I thought that Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart were staples in every human being's TV-diet...
In no particular order:
Russell Peters
Ricky Gervais
Chris Rock
Eddy Murphy
Richard Pryor
