Hi, I have been working on a game project of mine for sometime now and its becoming close to completion. My only problem is, and its one I know many people have, is picking a company name to release it under. I have a few registared relating to my username (MashedLtd, MashedStudios) but I'm not sure if these name really 'cut it'. I don't know if to go with something like "Regain Software" Black Diamond Productions" etc. How do any of them sound to you guys and do you have any tips for picking a company name, do's and don'ts etc. Any input is appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it. MashedLtd is simple and most definately not bad in any way. Microsoft is a pretty crap company name tbh, there is certainly nothing special about it. If you make good games/software the company name won't matter too much so long as it's not PoopyShittyCrappy Ltd.

Hmm.. have you considered anything with Poopyshittycrappy in the title?



But seriously, Mashed Studios is quite a nice name - I would go with that.

Mashed Studios sounds good to me too. Makes me think of button mashers and the good ol' days when I'd want to destroy controlers after dieing on a level for the thousandth time. Also makes me think of potatoes and gravy too. Mmmm... gravy.

I just wonder what you would suggest me to call my studio :)

Mashed Potatoes sounds better.

I first read it as "ma shed", which might be an appropriate name if you code in your garage. ;)

Anyway, I kinda like "mashed", and I don't think it needs the "studios" part.

Except Mashed? Limted is already a registered company. IANAL but I doubt you would be able to get Mashed. I would not post questions to a public forum asking about company names you are considering, as there are people who would register it for a little over £20 so that they could potentially sell the name.

Sorry, I see you wrote that you already have these registered. Would you mind saying where they are registered as they do not show at Company House.
