Prelude Beta
There''s a new beta of my 3D isometric rpg, Prelude to Darkness, up at our website:
www.zero-sum.com
I''d sure appreciate any comments; the last version I posted got a ton of excellent feedback both positive and negative which helped a lot.
It does require DirectX 7.0 or later and windows 98 or me, doesn''t work with win2000.
For framerates you can press and hold ''f'' which give current and max (it tries to sync to around 30 fps)
Programming questions are welcome, too.
Cheers,

Mat,
I must say that I got stuck in your game the other night... I played for about 20 minutes and tried to complete the first quest and then *POW* I crashed.
I''m not totally convinced that it was an error in the game as I rebooted and tried again and played for about 45 mins. I must say that I think the graphics engine rocks and I''m envious
Other comments are:
I like the turn based combat!
I Like the feeling!
I really like the graphics engine... oh I said that already.
Keep up the good work!

Too bad it wont run on win2k.
I was influenced by the Ghetto you ruined.
Yeah, the Win2k thing is really annoying. I''ve been trying to maintain compatability, but I don''t have anything running win2k here so it''s tough. If any one knows anywhere which has a common issues or pitfalls of porting from win98/me to 2k please let me know,

No Windows 2K? ACK! I see you''re using DX 7, so it should work just fine.
After seeing the screenshots I really want to play. What problem are you having? Let''s fix it!

You should implement some debug output when it fails. That way it would be possible to track down the problem.

Looks like you''ve got a solid game coming along. It crashes a LOT on my comp though so that gets annoying. I''m running a 550 AMD K6-2 128ram with WIN ME. It crashes a lot a points where it gives messages and on examining things.
Thanks for taking a gander TH, know what kind of video card are you using?
