If you could get permission to remake a game, what would it be?

The two I can think off are Flashback and Eternal Champions. I think both could benefit from modern technology but still remain 2D to an extent.

If I got funding along with the permission; System Shock 2! It's scary enough with 90's style low-poly 3D. With current-gen graphics it could be scary as hell.
X-Com and Battlezone 2.

Descent 3 also needs a sequel, but Interplay might be back from the dead to do that themselves.

Permission? Or permission and resources? [grin]

I'd love to see a Deus Ex remake (al-a Black Mesa - which I'm also eagerly awaiting).

I suppose resources are included. Though permission to even do it seems to be the big issue.
Does anyone else thinks this topic really only applies to memorable RPG/Adventure games?

I can't think of a single FPS, RTS or Racing game that applies... I mean, it's really only the characters you aren't allowed to copy, game mechanics and plot can be "stolen".

Trespasser. That or the PC-CD ROM game of Jurassic Park.
