Then games would be cheaper, basic supply/demand, if a game costs 59.99 that means there are a number of people that are willing to pay that price, otherwise it would be less. It also means that by their estimate, if they drop the price by 5$ that would not generate enough new sales (that they can't get by lowering the price later) to cover the 5$ drop in each previous sale.
So basically, if people didn't want to pay such prices, they would be lower :)
