Ok, it's official. According to my local newspaper The NASA found 600 millon tons of water on the moon. The question is, how much time till they settle a base there? YAY! EDIT: NASA linky

Some may say NASA is wishing their days away. No way.

It's not likely that NASA will get directed to build a lunar base. It seems that the Obama administration wants NASA to stimulate commercial space development. At least, that's what the new budget proposal says. Distressingly, there doesn't seem to be any particular goal in mind beyond that. NASA administrator Charlie Bolden has hinted that the ultimate destination may be Mars, but nothing has been finalized.
Just wait till they find oil or some other valuable fuel over there... Then they will build the bases... :D

I can think of a few countries ready to liberate Moonies from the horrible clutches of Logravqis.

Good thing would we wouldn't need to worry about running out of fuel on a lunar mission...
Wait, you read a "newspaper"? Like, with actual real paper and ink and stuff?

Wow.

Unfortunately, the moon is dead, and as far as we can tell it was never alive. So no petroleum. But it's possible there could be some other element there that's rare near earth's surface but abundant on the moon's surface, like Uranium or something. I wouldn't count on it.

In other news, Moon is my new favorite sci-fi movie.
