Hey! Ok, so the guys down in programming want me to use an accurate DEM model for terrain instead of your normal everyday height maps. So after having a plunge headfirst into the inky blackness of DEM creation I determined I need a table of elevations, and a lot of time to produce a proper DEM. What I would like to find some software that will read in standard greyscale height maps, request the absolute elevations (black pixels / white pixels), extrapolate and generate a DEM based off the resulting values or at least a table of height values.
