I often take a beer after each day at the university. Sometimes 2 or 5 if somethings working
I usually just drink the cheapest beer, so we buy it in bulk for our group room here. The campus bars aren't very expensive, but it's easier to keep our own stock
How often you drink?

wait, you have bars *on campus*?

Hehe.
We had 3 (or 4?) bars at (or on?) campus. (OK, engineers, and miners.)

I want to make sure we're not running into a language barrier here. Are you saying that there were places one could go on university grounds and purchase alcoholic beverages? Hell, my university didn't even allow the consumption of alcohol on campus. While that is thankfully not especially common in the US, I'm not aware of any universities that sell alcohol on premises.

At the University of Illinois, we had bars extremely close to the campus. Google Maps apparently shows one such bar as being on-campus. Also, FireHaus and Murphy's Pub around there too. They're not exactly in the main part of campus, but they're close enough. I think that, technically, its not really University grounds though. IIRC you couldn't carry open alcohol outside bars onto the grounds.
@Rip-off- Being a good part Irish myself (close to 50%, the other big chunk being German), I'm disappointed, and agree with Phantom and Zipster, you are either lying, or were drunk when you made that post. Hopefully the latter. :p
I drink 1-3 times a week. Usually only one day on the weekend if/when I go out. Lately I've been having a few beers a night. I'm going home for xmas and my friends told me to 'get in drinking shape'. I usually drink either Bud Light or Capt Morgan Private Stock + coke/pepsi.
Lately I've been getting into more beer types. Heineken, Sam Adams Boston Lager/Winter Ale, Bud Lights new Golden Wheat, etc. I'll also go in to BevMo! and pick up a random beer. Picked up one a couple weeks ago that I really like, called Kilt Lifter.
For me though, after a rough day, nothing beats a nice stiff Capt. Private Stock and Coke :)
All this talk of booze makes me want to drink...and I just got to work!

Well, I don't know about the US, but there are some up here in Canada. I go to UBC, and I know for a fact that there are places where alcohol is served on campus, two of which are actually in the Student Union Building. The fact that the drinking age up here is 19 (and 18 in some other provinces) might have something to do with that.

There was one where I got my degree and two at the university where I got my masters. On the odd occasion we used to go there during the day, like after an exam.
Thanks for your concern everyone, but I'm afraid I was quite sober when making that last post. And I wasn't lying.
I drink usually 2-3 beers a week at most or the occasional glass of white wine, but all of that has been tailing off lately. I will often find myself partying properly usually every 6-8 weeks at most during which time I'll probably end up getting rather drunk (mostly on beer, wine and vodka), but I'm definitely not a habitual binge drinker or alcoholic.
I know a genuine alcoholic and I'm most definitely not at that stage, thankfully. I decide I want a drink, so I might have one small bottle of beer or something. He decides he wants a drink, and he'll have at least four cans of lager and half a bottle of whisky.
UK Universities all have student union bars, sometimes the student union building will have three or four at least. Also, there's been occasions where we've had some kind of reception (giving presentations to outsiders etc.) where free drink has been laid on. The full legal system (often including private University regulations as well) still appplies however, so there's usually rules against drinking outdoors or selling alcohol in certain places at certain times. Also at the University I'm at, a Union-affiliated society can't sell or provide alcohol at society-operated events so it has to be BYOB under those circumstances.
The trade-off is that we don't have the US-style "fraternity" system here. I don't have much of an idea what that involves but, from what I've seen and heard, it's somewhat shady and I wouldn't like to get involved.

I wouldn't count a night of partying to the point of getting "quite drunk" as binge drinking. Binge drinking is multiple *days* of drinking for the purpose of getting drunk. The modern redefinition of binge drinking is just a facet of a new prohibitionist movement.
