L4D2
IT ROCKS!
to exapnd a bit. Level design is great, love the crescendos (inifite zombie spawn until you accoplish an objective), the finale are very cool, great weapons, great characters, gore-tastic, special infected, everything what L4D wanted to be imo. So much more than L4D redux! Don't miss out on the fun and gore! [grin]
Favorite weapons, magnum and AK, and of course the CHAINSAW!!!
Everything is better with Metal.
I'm enjoying it, but the last few days a good server has been impossible to connect to for some reason.

AK + laser sight = WIN.
My biggest gripes are that they somehow managed to nerf the AI and there's a rampant bug which resets all your achievements. However I expect those issues to be patched quickly and it's otherwise a fantastic game (and I haven't even ventured beyond Campaign mode yet)!

I only played the demo but I have to disagree. Its WAY to similar to L4D 1 to be worth another 50 bucks.
Dont get me wrong, its really fun, and slightly better, just not enough of a
difference.

It's fun, but am I the only one who feels that the characters aren't as talkative/funny as in the first one? They seem comparably quiet, and there isn't as much back and forth. The dialog seems a lot more straight forward as well, and not as witty or creative. The action parts are pretty intense, but the dialog lacking makes the beginning of levels [and certain quiet parts through the middle] feel a bit flat as compared to the first.

I agree with some of the above posters. It just feels way too much like the original one to be worth $60. Melee weapons, a couple of new special zombies and daytime levels just aren't enough. While melee weapons are the biggest game changer, most other FPS games have had melee weapons for years.
I guess what could have really changed my opinion would have been more story-based action. It is still the same formula of: 1. Move from Point A to Point B, 2. Trigger swarms of undead at various points. I would have loved to see more cutscenes between Acts, more talking to increase the story, and more varied action scenes. Each movie-inspired campaign still adds nothing more to the game than a new location.
EDIT: I also did not think the level design was all that great. At least not across the board. It did have some good ones, but there were some quite drab settings that had no personality.

Rented it for Xbox. It was as enjoyable as the last one. The dialogue is great, like Ellis talking about retarded red-neck things. Agreed though that it is way too similar to the old one. Basically the same game repackaged with new levels and a couple new zombies. Although, Halo has been an exact copy over the years. It is still a very fun game.
NBA2K, Madden, Maneater, Killing Floor, Sims
Well, it's a first person shooter, and you shoot zombies. In the same respect, you can compare it with any FPS franchise made, personally it has more content added than say, MW2 (not trying to start a flame war, just my opinion). I still enjoy MW2, or any franchise well made (Half Life, cant wait for EP3, what sort of monster are they creating down there?).
I don't really see how they could have make the IP move forward, L4D2 feels like a more accomplished and rounded L4D. I enjoy it immensely, what sets it apart for me is the pacing, compared to the first one.

I've seen a video of it running and, to be honest, if you hadn't told me L4D2 existed I would have assumed it was a mod. Nothing stood out as being obviously different apart from new weapons and maps.
My friend has it for PC so I should get a look at it tonight. Didn't absolutely adore the first one though.
