Sequels & redesigned Classics
There are several classic games out there that over the years have been relaunched with better graphics/darker themes etc. not to mention some upcoming sequels to some faily old games. Bioshock 2 is coming to mind. What game would you like to see redesigned for the next generation or alternatively what sequel to an old game would you like to see made in the near future?
Personally I'd love to see a darker 'Ecco the Dolphin' relaunch or a direct sequel to 'The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time' (one where they actually try to find Navi). As a big fan of the Myst franchise (books and games) I'd dig a Myst prequel too.

Really? Why does Bioshock 2 come to mind? Bioshock came out in 2008 so it's hardly considered old nor will be Bioshock 2 be considered a remake. Is this a typo?

Oh man... so many! :)
PC: The 7th Guest and 11th Hour with improved graphics... and perhaps better FMV. Privateer (although there is a fan-based remake that I played several years. It was going pretty good).
Sega Genesis: Kid Chameleon! I've played this game over and over since the 7th grade and freakin' loved it.
Arcade/Genesis: Strider. I know there was a Strider 2 but I haven't heard many positive things about it. Fantastic music!
SNES: Super Metroid. Enough said.
PS1: FF7 Can you imagine how freakin' well this game would sell if they did a faithful remake while improving the controls, graphics and music (music meaning live instruments vs. MIDI-samples). Head explodes. I'd also like to have a great remake of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I know many DS titles have come close.... but nothing has really come close to the depth found in SOTN. Perhaps it's the system it's one that deals with it.

Completely agree with Myst! That would be fun!
There's probably tons more but I have to get to work.

I just bought the Myst games last week to play through oddly enough. I remember it being higher graphics. I'd like to see a remake of the myst games with pre-rendered graphics all in the same style.
Deus-Ex might look nice if they upgraded it to modern graphics and animation. Then again I have to wonder if upgrading it would destroy the unique animation and style of the game. I liked the sound effects and the walking animation of the characters.
Elder Scrolls can just keep making sequels. They can't really go wrong with that game.

I remember when I when I had a Genesis, in my early teens, that I would want to pass every game I had. I did this, except for one game: Kid Chameleon. I managed to get to level 100-and-something but just couldn't do it. That game has lived in infamy in my memory. Good god, now the music and sound effects are playing in my head.
I would like some remakes simply because some of these games are not available anymore or really hard to find. Sometimes I curse myself for selling my Genesis and games so that I could buy my first PC. But then, I might not have played Warcraft II... ah, consequences.
Sonic Adventure 2, it's a great game in my opinion, even if the controls and camera could need an adjusted or improved approach. I want Sega to remake that one, it is a quite mighty game after all and much more solid than e.g. Unleashed.
The Super Mario developers almost always build further upon previous games, while Sega tries new approaches maybe too often, they can benefit from polishing current concepts instead, for a while longer.
I agree. I would guess Square-Enix may be just waiting until after seeing how the sales of FFXIII goes, they seem to have put enormous amounts into that one (looks like GoW or DMC or something but with a playtime of what... 30+ hours? :)

My bad I read an article about Bioshock 2 and I got it confused with System Shock.

Didn't someone pick up the rights to System Shock recently? It would be interesting to see a third one done after Bioshock was such a big success. It wouldn't be good, but it'd be hilarious to watch all the morons running around screaming "This is such a bioshock ripoff!".
You know it would happen. Will happen.

I am still scratching my head why there has been no updated version/sequel to Heretic. It was a FPS back in the original Doom days where you played as a spell-caster, so instead of guns, you were nuking monsters and other players with spells. Could you imagine how cool that would be if remade today with next-gen graphics and solid gameplay? It would be amazing! Why have they not done it?!
