Paranormal Activity (No spoilers)

I saw Paranormal Activity last night, and I honestly have to say I was rather disappointed. I have been hearing radio and TV stations being bombarded with (supposedly non-planted) people saying it is the scariest movie they have ever seen. I don't see how. For those not familiar, PA is in the same vein as Blair Witch Project, in that it is completely filmed by camcorder. There is no Hollywooding at all to it, no background music, etc. I believe it was made for just $11,000, and for its budget, it is quite impressive. However, being impressive for its budget does not make it the most impressive movie of the year, or the scariest thing I have ever seen. In my opinion, Blair Witch Project did it much better. Paranormal Activity just keeps this somewhat slow pace for far too long into the movie, whereas BWP did come to a satisfyingly chaotic pace for the last quarter of the movie. With PA, you just keep wondering how long you have been watching it, and when it is going to pick up. I really couldn't recommend it considering the cost of movie tickets these days.

I'll give a thumbs up for Primer too. Who would have thought that crawling through a cardboard box could be dramatic? [grin]

Does anybody else think that the success of Paranormal Activity will hurt the success of The Fourth Kind? Does anybody think it will help? The commercials for it make that movie look too much like youtube clips of epileptic seizures.
