Crashing browsers

Hi guys I am having an infuriating problem with all my browsers atm. To get onto safari I have to open it a hell of a lot of times before it will work, and even then sometimes it will crash after on for long enough. Also IE8 does not work at all. I open it up and it suddenly says not responding. And mozilla firefox will not even open. So is there anything I can do to fix this. I am using Windows 7 as my OS. Any other info I would be glad to give you :D thanks

It sounds like your computer is probably suffering from some kind of horrible spyware death. That said, you didn't really give much information so I don't think anyone will be able to tell you exactly what's going on.

What sort of info do you want? I can tell you that when I click on firefox it becomes a process but never actually opens.

And do you think I should upgrade my spyware software. I currently have AVG but I am thinking that Mcafee would be better and if I do have a spyware virus of some sort it might actually catch it.

Thanks :D

Doesn't Windows 7 come with Windows Defender or something like that? If so, it's probably worth a try.

When you can get on the internet, are you able to access websites related to anti-virus software and things like that? A lot of malware blocks access to anti-virus websites so that's worth checking.

My guess would be some sort of buggy plugin. Try running "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)" and seeing if that helps.

Related issue, I tried chrome out a few months when it came out but couldnt get it to run.

So anyways yesterday I downloaded + installed it again.
always this

Ive gotta say it boots quick 0.5sec from start to crash

Any ideas whats up

(edit)
OK found a solution, its quite a common problem
you need to run as

chrome.exe --no-sandbox

though this could leave the pc vunerable

Do you have Visual Studio installed? I would try to debug the stalled process and see what it's up to when it's stalled. If you don't have Visual Studio, Process Explorer is usually a good substitute.

Another question would be is it only browsers that are effected, or is it anything that connects to the network (try "ping" or "telnet" for example). That'll tell you if the problem is specific to those programs or if there's something more universal (maybe a Winsock filter driver that's playing up).

You haven't updated recently, have you? 3.5 contained (contains?) a silly bug that causes it to read every file in your IE cache, which can understandably cause load times of several minutes.

I'd recommend avast! over AVG - far less intrusive.

I update asap for all my software. And I think it was a plug-in that was effecting it. It took me hours to get up the little pop-up that appears before safe mode opens. Just kept clicking every few hours and suddenly ta-da! So I disabled all my tool-bars and things and now it runs just fine.

Thanks for your help guys! :D Although IE is still not working although I don't really care about it as I never use the thing.
