Quote: The Walt Disney Company has agreed to acquire Marvel Entertainment in a stock and cash transaction, the companies announced this morning. Under the terms of the agreement and based on last week’s closing price of Disney, Marvel shareholders would receive a total of $30 per share in cash plus approximately 0.745 Disney shares for each Marvel share they own.
And just to rape the precise characters:
Quote: Under the deal, which has been approved by the boards of both companies, Disney will acquire ownership of Marvel including its portfolio of over 5,000 Marvel characters. That portfolio includes many familiar names like Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor.

My co-worker says he wants Simba and Gambit.
A friend pointed out to me when I told him about the deal that Disney might be against releasing R-rated Marvel movies. Could this be possible? That would suck epically. Even PG-13 wouldn't be enough to properly tell some of Marvel's darker stories.

I should've figured something was up when Disney XD started playing a sizeable portion of Marvel's cartoon portfolio, although they do play DC stuff, too...

Now, if only we could get a "Disney Vs. Capcom" deal going.

Considering after the Pusnisher: Warzone - Marvel is against releasing R-Rated movies as well I don't see this as being a problem. Besides, they're saying that this is like the Pixar merger. Disney not interested in day-to-day activities, only the money they bring in.

Wait what? Sorry to digress here but Warzone was a great action flick. Story aside (which was still at least decent) you're saying Marvel thought it tanked cause people found it too violent?

I always thought P:W was meant to be a tribute to the B-Movie. Seriously, he punches a guy's face in.

Anyway, I doubt they'll mess with Marvel's day-to-day practices, except maybe to use the various Marvel characters out there for their own uses. Remember, Disney owns Touchstone too, and that certainly hasn't stopped the brand from churning out R-rated cinema.
