Just had the surgery a couple hours ago. It truely is a miraculous procedure. If anyone is considering it, DO IT. You can get up to 24 months same as cash through www.carecredit.com.. I still have some haze and blurryness but i have a protective contact in and all kinds of drops every 30 minutes. But from what i can tell i'm good to go.

Is that permanent? If so, it's totally not worth it.

No, it's not (well, usually it is not). It's a typical side effect just after the surgery. It took around two weeks to ago away, when I did Lasik a few years ago. You will also experience dry eyes for some time (expect a couple of months), which can get very annoying in A/C'ed rooms or vehicles. But that will also go away eventually.

I can only concur with the OP. Although I already did the procedure quite some time ago, I can't even imagine a life with glasses or contacts anymore.
The contact will come out tomorrow morning, the drops will need to be applied for a week to a month, but at a much greater interval than the first day.

The haziness should be gone within a week with irritation for up to a month, as Yann L described.

I just cannot believe the operation. It's unreal. I was in the operating room for literally 10 minutes. When i sat up i could read the clock and see my doctors face very clearly. Within hours i'm using the computer. It's just unbelievable.

Yeah, but be careful. While you don't feel anything, the surgery left a deep wound in the eyes, and that needs time to heal. When your doctor says something like a month, then that's mostly marketing blablah. The actual healing period is more like six months. During that time, you have to be really careful what you do.

I did a week long boating trip around two months after the surgery. My eyes appeared entirely healed (around 20/16 on both eyes, entirely clear view). I didn't wear shades, so I got a good dose of UV, especially reflected from the water surface. Shortly after, the right eye got hazy again. I panicked and rushed to my doc. Apparently this was called late post-operative haze (or something), and was a reaction to the UV, since the cornea wasn't 100% healed at that time. The haze disappeared eventually, but it took another month of daily drops to get to 20/16 again.

But I agree, the results of the procedure are truely astonishing.

I had some really itchy pain a few hours after the procedure and fell asleep. I woke up a couple of hours later and have since never had a single issue. It's amazing how you can deal with having glasses or messing with contacts for years and years and then a week after the surgery the whole glasses or contacts experience is forgotten.

$100 bucks says that you go to push your glasses up on your nose at least once now that they aren't there. I remember when I first started wearing contacts I did that a couple of times :)

That's way cool. Laser eye surgery is something I'd like to get in the future. I've had a few friends and acquantences that have had it done, and all have had nothing but positive things to say about it.

Maybe because I'd been in contacts for years and years but honestly a week or so after the surgery I'd essentially forgotten I was born without perfect vision. It just isn't something that comes up unless it's brought up :)

Arent you supposed to avoid using a computer for a week after that surgery?

I'ld like to get it very much, as Im strongly near-sighted, but it scares the crap out of me. A relative of mine lost all night vision having lasik, she can't drive at night anymore and bumps in her stuff looking for the light switch.
